CUPRA JOINS THE MOVISTAR TEAM

CUPRA is taking its high-performance DNA into the world of professional cycling. The brand has confirmed a major partnership to become the Official Car of the Movistar Team, the oldest and most established professional cycling team. 

This alliance will see CUPRA support the only Spanish team currently competing in the UCI World Tour across all categories—men, women, U-23, and gravel—throughout the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

This partnership is not just about logistics; it is a strategic move to strengthen the brand’s connection to Barcelona, its home city. The timing is precise: Barcelona will host the historic Tour de France 2026 Grand Départ, placing CUPRA and the Movistar Team at the center of the cycling world.

While the modes of transport differ, the ambition remains the same. CUPRA and Movistar Team share a competitive spirit and a drive to challenge the status quo. This partnership takes CUPRA's winning mindset into one of the world's most popular sports. With the city of Barcelona hosting the first three stages of the 2026 Tour de France, the brand views this as the perfect moment to inspire the world from its home ground.

CUPRA will be right in the middle of the action for more than 250 race days per season. The CUPRA Leon Sportstourer and the CUPRA Terramar will serve as the team's support vehicles, fully equipped with the technical gear required to assist riders in the heat of competition.

Starting with the first races of the 2026 calendar, these vehicles will accompany the team across the globe, including the three Grand Tours: the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta a España, and the Tour de France, which kicks off in Barcelona on July 4th.

The alliance also highlights the future of urban mobility. The CUPRA Raval, the brand’s radical electric urban car designed and developed in Barcelona, will play a key role during the Grand Départ, showcasing the brand's vision to a massive global audience.

This alliance connects CUPRA with a worldwide audience. The Tour de France alone reaches an estimated 146 million on-site spectators and 500 million TV viewers. Having CUPRA's support strengthens the position of Movistar’s teams across all disciplines, from road cycling to gravel racing, reinforcing the ambition to inspire the world from Barcelona.

Beyond the race itself, CUPRA will be present in the convoy and fan zones, offering unique experiences and bringing the CUPRA Tribe closer to the action.

As the Official Car of the Movistar Team, CUPRA continues to build its connection with high-performance sport. This alliance joins a portfolio that includes global partnerships with FC Barcelona and the 37th America’s Cup, as well as its presence in the FIA Formula E World Championship through the CUPRA KIRO team and the CUPRA Padel Tribe.
